General & Cosmetic Dentistry Schenectady NY
April 8, 2020
Dear Patients and Friends,
I am reaching out again to let you know that our office is continuing to see emergency patients only, in accordance with the guidelines from New York State. These restrictions are currently in place until April 29th, and are continually being reevaluated. These restrictions were extended after much thought, and are intended to protect us from non-critical personal interactions, to conserve masks and gloves for hospital use, and to relieve emergency rooms of dental-related visits.
Several patients have reached out to us with dental concerns recently, and we take all of them seriously. If it is a non-urgent need, we can often advise you over the phone of the best way to manage until we can see you in person. For true emergency needs, we are able to see patients in the office one at a time, and we follow the current recommended CDC guidelines for treating dental emergencies. We screen our patients, and ourselves, for any signs or symptoms of Covid-19 before each patient encounter. We are proud to be able to treat patients in a safe environment.
For many of you, this interruption in routine dental care may mean that you are missing your scheduled cleanings. Don’t forget to give your teeth a little bit of extra attention during this time. As I know Suzanne, Donna and Judy have told you many times, twice-daily brushing and daily flossing are critical for maintaining your oral health. Stress, altered daily routines, and changes in eating habits can result in changes in the condition of your teeth and gums. It is important to be conscious of your oral health, and your overall health, during these stressful times.
With the changing nature of the situation, I plan to update our website www.schenectadydentistry.com and our social media accounts on Facebook and Instagram if there are any changes in our timeline for reopening to routine care. You can also always call the office at (518)374-6845 to talk to us about any concerns or to reach Dr. Kluth.
We miss you and can’t wait to see you again,
Jennifer Kluth DMD and your dental team
March 18, 2020
Dear Valued Patients,
As your dental team, our top priority is your health and well-being. Under normal circumstances we are predominantly focused on your oral health, although we are always evaluating your general health status as well. The coronavirus has forced all of us to shift our focus to the health and well-being of our entire community. After a great deal of consideration, our office has decided to limit the patients we see in the office to dental emergencies through April 5th. This will allow us to maintain a low patient flow in the office, and minimize non-emergent interactions in order to protect our patients, our team members and our community. We care deeply about all of you, and we feel it is our obligation to help protect you and those most vulnerable in our community. We also want to do our part to keep our healthcare systems working efficiently.
With this is mind, we want you to know that we are still open to you for dental emergencies. Although it feels in some ways that life has been put on hold, there is a chance that some of you will need emergency care during this time. If you have a true dental emergency, then you should seek care to ensure that no problem progresses to the point of needing to go to the hospital. If you are nervous about visiting the office during this time, please reach out to us. Fortunately, as a small office, we are very likely to be able to arrange for you to be the only patient in the office during treatment. Patients of record can contact Dr. Kluth by calling the office at (518)374-6845 if they have any questions.
Of course, we ask that you avoid coming to the office if you are sick, have a fever or cough, have traveled in the last 14 days or if you or a family member has been asked to be quarantined.
Our office has always adhered to and exceeded recommended infection control standards. We practice universal precautions, which means that we work hard to protect every patient from the many infectious diseases that are present today, not just the coronavirus. We wipe down surfaces in our working rooms with medical-grade disinfectant after each patient, use new disposable barriers for each patient, and adhere to strict autoclave sterilization procedures for all non-disposable instruments. Your protection has always been at the forefront of our practice.
We anticipate being in the office on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays during this period. If we are not in the office when you call, you may leave a message or contact Dr. Kluth directly through the answering service. The American Dental Association has currently recommended these precautions be followed for three weeks, and we will be continually monitoring the situation and may make changes to our protocols as needed.
We apologize for any inconvenience that rescheduling appointments may cause. We look forward to seeing you again when we are able. Your beloved staff, Suzanne, Donna, Judy, Debbie and Anne, are already planning on adding extra days to their schedule so that you can all be seen as soon as possible once things get back to normal, reminding me again of what a wonderful team I have inherited with this office. Thank you all for your understanding.
